01
Choose a coastal or ocean route
Before sailing, choose the route offered by the game. Coastal and ocean routes change the conditions of the voyage. Read the route description together with the skills you have developed and the ship you selected; a new life may call for a different plan.
02
Read a crisis before choosing an action
A sea crisis offers ways to proceed carefully, face the problem yourself or ask your companion. The related ability and help hint show what the decision relies on. Acting reveals consequences, including ability growth, time passing and possible damage.
Taking the careful approach also has a cost: time passes. Choosing a risky action repeatedly with a critical hull can end the life. Read the result before making the next decision.
03
Explore landfalls and return to port
Charting a new route can lead to a landfall, where another encounter leaves a memory and a concrete benefit for a later leg. Shore encounters vary, giving another life different decisions to make.
At the decision to continue or return, compare the next opportunity with your ship's condition. Returning can consolidate discovery and let you prepare again. Hull, crew and chart preparation train different abilities; a failed expedition can still teach the captain something.
04
Understand the career's endings
A life can end with the completed homeward journey, retirement or loss at sea. Growing older and accumulating damage make long-term decisions matter. The ending belongs to the character you shaped, including their background, memories and discoveries.
