The destination no longer waits for the illustration.
Before this update, entering a scene could stop behind a blocking image-preparation dialog. Version 0.2.2 removes that gate. The destination mounts and remains interactive while its art finishes preparing, keeping navigation tied to the player's decision rather than an image-ready signal.
Captain comics follow the same rule. Turning a page no longer waits for a separate readiness check, so story pacing stays in the player's hands even when an illustration is still completing its background work.

Compact scene art reduces the work around entry.
The release also carries the compact scene artwork prepared after version 0.2.1. The smaller delivery set reduces image data around scene entry without changing the authored composition of the voyage.
This is deliberately a narrow release. It does not claim a new captain, deck archetype or progression layer; its purpose is to make the existing voyage respond sooner and more consistently.

The release boundary was checked on the actual packages.
The published candidates passed the full 664-test suite, a focused 69-test rendered-interface suite and 15 itch platform-contract tests. The macOS package was signed, notarized and verified; both stable packages were compared back to the approved candidates.
The itch.io edition remains a complete buy-once desktop download with local saves and offline play. That commercial boundary belongs to the desktop edition; the Age of Seas browser edition has its own clearly stated free-first-sea and account rules.
